Beatitude Examination
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
- Do I place too much importance on material things?
- Have I desired or stolen what is not mine?
- Do I seek above all the treasures of Heaven?
- Do I give to those in need, both from my gifts and monetarily?
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
- Do I comfort and help those who are burdened?
- Do I seek God in my own need?
- Do I regret the ways that I have strayed from God?
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the Earth.
- Am I prideful or arrogant?
- Do I seek to place others before myself?
- Do I ever look down on others or am I kind to all I meet?
- Do I respect my parents, supervisors, and others in authority over me?
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled
- Am I content with the sin in my life?
- Do I give all that I have in the pursuit of holiness?
- Is God the first priority of my life?
- Do I make frequent use of the Sacraments and pray regularly?
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
- Am I quick to forgive those who have wronged me?
- Do I seek to love and pray for my enemies?
- Have I forgiven and am I merciful to myself?
Blessed are the pure at heart, for they shall see God.
- Do I strive to keep my mind pure in what I look at and think about?
- Do I strive to keep my body pure in all my actions?
- Have I led others to purity, or to sin?
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.
- Have I been angry, vengeful, hateful, or violent?
- Have I ever had or encouraged anyone to have an abortion?
- Do I seek to cultivate peace between my family and my friends?
- Have I gossiped, lied, or done anything to bring conflict?
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven
- Do I stand up for what I believe?
- Do I seek the truth, even if it is unpopular?
- Do people know what I believe and can they see it in my actions?
