The second main part of the Mass: The Liturgy of the Eucharist. This will be the summit of everything you’ve been preparing for and praying for. At no other time in our life are we able to be so intimately unified with our Savior as we are during the Eucharistic celebration.
Presentation and Preparation of the Gifts
This is an awesome opportunity to prepare our hearts to receive the Eucharist. This is more than just “pass the basket” time. This is the time in which we not only make the bread and wine and our money as gift to God, but we prepare our very selves to be a gift to God, just as he has given himself to us in the Eucharist.
Eucharistic Prayer
This is the prayer by which the priest consecrates the Eucharist. But this isn’t the time to be a spectator. Fully participate in the prayer with your whole body, mind, soul and strength because it’s not just us praying – in the Eucharistic prayer we’re praying with the entire Church, in Heaven and on Earth.
Communion Rite
This is when our prayer reaches its climax. We receive Christ’s body and blood and, just for a minute, become his living tabernacles. Just as a tabernacle holds the presence of God, so do we hold God within ourselves. Awesome!
